Opiate Abuse & Addiction Treatment Center

You already know that opiate addiction can be devastating. What you may not realize is that help and hope are just a phone call away. At Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center, you can get the care that you need to live a healthy and satisfying life.

Treatment for Opiate Addiction

Learn More About the Treatment We offer for Opiate Abuse

Opiates are a group of tightly-controlled narcotic pain medications that are used for, in addition to other things, managing moderate-to-severe pain. Often touted as a “miracle drug,” by those living in chronic pain, opiates are derived from parts of the poppy plant and often prescribed under the names “OxyContin,” “Vicodin,” Percocet,” “morphine,” “fentanyl,” and “oxycodone.”

In addition to the pain-relieving qualities of opiates, narcotic painkillers provide users with a sense of overall well-being and pleasure that can be addicting to some who use the drugs. While most people in Georgia who are prescribed opiates take the drugs as directly prescribed by their physician and do not find themselves in need of rehab at a treatment center, some individuals begin to take opiates in order to relieve emotional pain and stresses in their lives. Often, these individuals take higher amounts of opiates to achieve the same effects. Unfortunately, these high doses of opiates can lead to such health consequences as death from respiratory or cardiac arrest.

As the addiction deepens, an opiate addict begins to obsessively fixate on the drug, obtaining more opiates, getting high from opiates, and recovering from opiate binges. As this happens, all other areas of life begin to suffer – social obligations are not met, home life crumbles, relationships are strained, work or school begins to suffer as the addict sinks further down the rabbit hole.

Addiction to opiates is a serious problem that can lead to serious complications in all areas of an addict’s life. You may feel like you’re unable to climb through the black hole and face the light. It’s time to get the rehab you deserve and face your addiction. Let the experts at our treatment center help you out of that black hole of addiction once and for all.

Types of Treatment

Types of Treatment Offered at Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center

We’ve learned through research the empirically validated treatments are best suited to treating an opiate addiction. The addiction rehab at our treatment center is based on the 12-step model for addiction and contains both medication and therapeutic approaches to ensure that you are receiving the best treatment for your opiate addiction.

When you come to Blue Ridge in Georgia, we’ll perform a thorough physical and psychological examination to determine the types of mental health disorders you’re struggling with and your level of addiction to opiates and other substances. If it is determined that you need medical detox from opiates, you’ll enter into our detox program where we will safely and effectively rid your body of opiates and other substances to allow you to best focus on your recovery.

Medication may be used at the beginning of your treatment in order to manage withdrawal symptoms and slowly tapered off. Others may require long-term medication management to control symptoms of co-occurring disorders. In addition to medication management and detox, we provide a variety of therapeutic modalities.

Individual therapy is used during rehab to focus on the problems that addiction has caused in your life and works through strategies to fix these issues. We’ll also delve into co-occurring disorder management, relapse prevention, and coping strategies for long-term recovery.

At our treatment center, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) seeks to address the erroneous ways in which you think and how they affect your behavior. In rehab, you’ll learn to challenge these negative ways of thinking and replace them with more constructive ways of viewing the world. This, in turn, should evoke more positive behaviors.

Reality-based therapy (RT) is used to focus on immediate problem-solving skills for real-life events. You’ll work through a variety of scenarios and how to best manage these challenges so that you can achieve the goals you want out of your life.

Group therapy is an important component of rehab as it allows you to connect with others in Georgia facing an opiate addiction. Psychoeducational groups strive to educate the group about certain topics such as anger management, relapse prevention, and positive coping skills. Process-based groups will afford you the opportunity to discuss your feelings and experiences about a particular topic.

Opiate addiction is a devastating family disease, so we firmly believe in including your family in your rehab. Family sessions at our treatment center will focus on how opiate addiction has affected your loved ones and educate them about your illness. We hold a monthly two-day long intensive family education experience at the Blue Ridge treatment center to allow your loved ones the opportunity to learn more about your illness and recovery.

In addition to traditional therapeutic approaches, Blue Ridge in one of the few treatment centers in Georgia to provide a number of experiential programs. These include:

  • A.A. and N.A.
  • Guided meditation
  • Art programming
  • Recreational programming
  • Nutritional counseling

If you feel more comfortable transitioning to a similarly-structured program for your continued rehab, we will help locate an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) or Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) to best meet your needs.

If you are discharging to your home in Georgia or elsewhere, we will connect you with a local outpatient therapist and available community resources to allow for your continued recovery.
